Understanding & Managing Project Risk
Level: Foundation/Intermediate
Length: 2.5 hours
PDUs/Contact Hours: 2.5
Once your project is initiated and being planned, it is time to think about one of the biggest components of your project – risk. Risks are inherent in all facets of projects, large and small. To think about risk is not to be negative but to be proactive, to think about what might happen to derail your project. And then to take steps to mitigate or avoid that risk so that your project is not impacted negatively.
Risk management is the process of identifying, analyzing and responding to project risk in order to ensure project success, and we will explore it thoroughly in this workshop. Case studies will be used to demonstrate real-life scenarios for application of project management techniques. Exercises will include the creation of a risk register.
Participants will:
- Better understand how to identify and assess risk.
- Understand how to plan responses to risk.
- Know the difference between issues and risks.
- Understand and plan for workaround and risk triggers.
- Create a risk register.
